John L. Marr, 86, of Greenwood, IN passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born June 28, 1939 in Attica, IN to Jessie Layton Marr and Mary Edith (Brown) Marr. He married Betty Jean (Smith) Marr on August 11, 1968 in Indianapolis, IN, she survives.
John was a graduate of Attica High School and the John Herron School of Art.
He served as art director for Basic American Medical in Indianapolis for several years. He and his wife also had owned and operated KOA Campgrounds in Columbus, IN.
John was a member of the Living Word Bible Church in Indianapolis. He was an accomplished wood carver and enjoyed reading the Bible.
Survivors include his wife Betty Jean (Smith) Marr of Greenwood, IN, his children Bill Marr (Irene) of Greenwood, IN, Peggy Terry of Greenwood, IN and David Marr (Shannon) of Indianapolis, IN, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a brother James Marr (Judy) of Philadelphia, PA and a sister Shelia Smith (Bob) of Batesville, IN.
His parents preceded him in death.
Pastor Mark Woodard will conduct a celebration of life memorial service on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 4PM at Living Word Bible Church, 6306 Gray Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237 where the family will receive friends from 3PM until service time.
Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
