Judy Sewell

Judith “Judy” Ann (Whitaker) Sewell, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 84.

She was born on June 29, 1942 in Ano, Kentucky to William “Bill” and Faye (Speaks) Whitaker, who proceeded her in death. She shared 64 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Donald “Don” Sewell and they were married on February 24, 1961 at the family residence in Dabney, Kentucky, who preceded her in death on August 29, 2025. Together, they built a loving family and a life filled with cherished memories.

Judy was a devoted mother to her son, Donnie Sewell (Denise) of Whiteland, IN, and daughter, Cindy King (Bob) of Franklin, IN. She was a loving grandmother to Kristen DeVore (Dustin), Megan Richardson (Edward), Daniel Sewell (Maggie), Jacob King, and Madeline Deitrich (Ross). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Lily, Dean, Dani and was so excited about the upcoming birth of another great-granddaughter, Nora Judith.

Judy’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her love and care will continue to live on through each of them.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a special friend to many. Judy’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Judy will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Pastor Steve Meece will conduct a service on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/judithsewell.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 11AM until service time at the mortuary.

Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
