Larry Edward States, 79, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on January 4 ^th , 2023.

Larry was born on August 16 ^th , 1943 to Donald Day States and Helen Feicht States in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Punxsutawney High School in 1961, he joined the US Navy and served as a Corpsman. He later went on to study Pharmacy at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN and was a member of Phi Delta Chi fraternity. He worked at multiple pharmacy positions through the years including Haag Drugs, Rexall Drugs, St. Vincent's Hospital, Franklin United Methodist Community, and CVS. He also served as Treasurer of the Indiana Society of Hospital Pharmacists organization.

He married his college sweetheart Alice Langellier Thorp on September 7 ^th , 1968 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Larry and Alice made their home Beech Grove, Indiana for many years before retiring in Franklin, Indiana. They had two sons - Scott and Christopher - and two beloved family dogs - Cinders and Roxie.

One of his greatest joys was being a host "Dad" to three successive exchange student children from the Stolz family of Markelfingen, Germany - Christoph, Alexandra, and Martin. The two families formed a lifelong international bond and have continued to visit each other over the years.

In addition to his pharmacy career, Larry was active in the community and could often be found supporting his sons in their school activities. He especially loved being a "Band Dad" helping to bring equipment on and off the field for the Beech Grove High School Marching Hornets, running fundraising efforts for an Indianapolis youth hockey organization, and timing and cheering during swim meets. He was a long-serving member of the Beech Grove Public Library Board including serving as President of the Board.

He was a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church for many years where was a bell choir member and frequently served as liturgist and usher. In later years he became a member of St John's United Church of Christ in Greenwood, Indiana and played in the bell choir there.

Larry also loved to travel. He and Alice took many trips to exotic locations as members of Ambassadair and the Otterbein travel group. They traveled the world together on many adventures in Europe, Central America, and beyond. His domestic travels took  him to many places, but most frequently to Disney World, Las Vegas, Dauphin Island, Alabama, Turkey Run State Park, and back home to Clear Creek State Park and Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania for family and class reunions.

Larry was predeceased by parents Donald and Helen States, and siblings Donald "Dune" States, Richard "Duck" States, Evelyn "Sue" Rosner, Gary "Shug" States, Carolyn Yenzi, and Jon States. He is survived by loving wife Alice, sister Janet States Kennedy, son Scott and his wife Casie and children Christian and Katherine, son Christopher and his wife Jessica and daughter Audrey. With such a large number of siblings, he was also blessed with many treasured nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, January 8 ^th , 2023 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 7031 South U.S. 31 (East Street) in Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The regular church service is at 10:30 am, lunch and fellowship at 11:45am, and a celebration of life service at 1:15pm

A graveside service will take place on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 2PM at Lakelawn Memorial Park, 2479 Fire Tower Road in Reynoldsville, PA.
