Obituary

Learrel Edward Wallace, 78, of Nineveh, IN and formerly of Cloverdale, IN passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born April 30, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN to Ernie Lee and Minnie Mae (Dunkin) Wallace.

Learrel was a graduate of Mooresville High School.

He had been a plant operator for IMI at the Burdsal Parkway Plant in Indianapolis, IN after 33 years of service.

Learrel was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a diesel generator mechanic being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

He enjoyed watching old westerns shows of GRIT TV, writing poems and was a caring and giving individual.

Survivors include his son David A. Wallace and daughter-in-law Emily (Barnett) Wallace of Nineveh, IN, a brother Charles Wallace (Joy) of Louisville, KY, four nieces Yvonne Wallace Speer (Mark) of Tolleson, AZ, Donna Freeman (David) of Bargersville, IN, Joy Wallace Mason of Nashville, TN and Shonsie Wallace of Indianapolis, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Helen Ernestine Wallace Floyd and an infant brother Herschel Lee Wallace and a brother David Cleo Wallace.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 3PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  Military honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard will follow the service.  Friends may call Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 2PM until service time at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Hope for Hearts Farm, 1001 West State Road 45, Morgantown, IN 46160 or at www.hopeforheartsfarm.org.
