Loretta (Cogill) Cummins Evans, 90, of Greenwood, IN passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in Greenwood, IN.

She was born August 12, 1933 in Indianapolis, IN to John Cogill and Alberta E. (Brummett) Cogill.  Loretta was the ultimate middle child with five siblings; William "Johnny" Cogill, Betty Cook, Jeanne Buck, Susan Allen and Elizabeth "Libby" Pierce.  The Cogill brood grew up on the near Southside of Indianapolis, where she loved helping with the animals alongside her father.  Loretta graduated from Southport High School in 1951. She had a love for horses starting from a young age.  She was an avid rider with a passion for dressage and continued to ride throughout her life.

Loretta spent much of her career in fashion.  She worked as a buyer in the bridal department at Block's Department Store and later in sales at L.S. Ayers and Parisian.  Loretta loved fashion and was always up to date on the latest trends.  She modeled for Block's and TurborCraft boats. Loretta remembered her years in the fashion industry fondly and passed down several vintage pieces to her children and grandchildren.  She was passionate about many issues, especially animal welfare, human rights and politics.  Loretta had a "green thumb" and was active in the Winter Haven Garden Club.  She always treasured her time on Sanibel Island vacationing at Casa Ybel Resort.

Loretta met her loving husband, Pete Evans 48 years ago.  They lived throughout the eastern U.S., finally retiring in Winter Haven, FL, and enjoyed many wonderful years together.

Loretta is survived by her husband Peter Evans of Greenwood, IN, her daughter Cathy Cummins Wilson of Greenwood, IN, stepsons Paul Evans (Angela) of Indianapolis, IN and Peter Evans Jr. (Deana) of Ft. Myers, FL, grandchildren Katie, Sara, Andy, Grant, Grace, Emily, Riley, Jacob and Ryan, three great-grandchildren and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her mother, father, first husband Maurice Cummins, her four siblings and a daughter April Cummins Gourley.
