Marjorie L. (Duncan) Surface LaFary, 100, of Greenwood, IN passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Grand Brook Memory Care in Stones Crossing, Greenwood, IN.

She was born September 17, 1921 in Greenwood, IN to Grover Cleveland Duncan and Grace Darling (Funkhouser) Duncan.

She married Glenn Surface on April 6, 1941, in Greenwood, IN.  He preceded her in death on July 30, 1999.  She later married Arthur E. LaFary on November 4, 2001 in Johnson County, IN, he preceded her in death on August 8, 2018.

She was a 1939 graduate of Greenwood High School.  She retired after thirty-five years at Eli Lilly and Company, finishing her career as an executive secretary to one of the Executive Vice Presidents.

She was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church in Greenwood, IN.

Marjorie enjoyed square dancing with her late husband Glenn, playing cards and was an avid Center Grove Trojan supporter and fan.

Survivors include her daughters Sheila Kay Richards of Greenwood, IN and Shirley Anne Sutton (Millard "Butch") Sutton of Greenwood, IN and a daughter-in-law Connie L. (Strouse) Surface of Greenwood, IN.  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren--Teresa Schneider St. Charles, MO, Tonya Hall St. Charles, MO, Greg Richards (Alicia) Plymouth, IL, Amy Raker (Jon) of Greenwood, IN, Jody Schoettle (Chris) of Greenwood, IN, and Rob Surface of Greenwood, IN and by 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Lynn Surface on August 5, 2019, a son-in-law Rex Richards September 15, 2009, a grandson-in-law Brian C. Kiefer on February 2, 2017, three sisters Cora Elizabeth Summers, Virginia Helen Ward, Hallie Mae Alspaugh, two brothers Lowell O. Duncan and Carl Leo Duncan.

A service will be conducted on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be  live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com .  Friends may call Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 11AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will be at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
