Obituary

Mark Timothy Davis, 45, of San Antonio, TX passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

He was born on January 27, 1977 in Key West, FL to Timothy Mark Davis and Veronica Sue (Stephens) Messick.  He was a graduate of Whiteland Community High School.

Mark enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 8, 1995 and was honorably discharged on May 19, 2010 due to disabilities incurred as a direct result of armed conflict during a period of war. While in the military Mark served in imminent danger areas of Afghanistan and Iraq. He rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class, was a combat medic, served with the 82 nd Airborne Division and oversaw hospital services while stationed at Ft. Sam Houston. During his distinguished career he received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal for action in Afghanistan and Iraq among other awards. He received a Combat Medical Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Basic Aviation Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and was certified as a Flight Medic and Jumpmaster.

He married his loving wife Miriam Davis in 2001.  His interests and hobbies were fishing, hunting, firearms and spending time with family and friends. He was a true patriot and a proud veteran.

Mark is survived by his wife Miriam Davis of San Antonio, TX, his children Mathew Davis of San Antonio, TX,  Tara Davis of San Antonio, TX,  Adam (Jay) Davis of Franklin, IN, Brynn Canary of Bloomington, IN, his mother Veronica Messick of Marion, IL, his siblings Julie (Joey) Owen of Franklin, IN, Josh Davis of Franklin, IN, his step-siblings Breck (Christina) Hardcastle of Franklin, IN,  Jeff Hardcastle of Indianapolis, IN,  Kelly (Chris) Cofer of Whiteland, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father Timothy Mark Davis and his step-mother Vicky Davis.

Pastor Rick Davis will conduct a service on Wednesday March 9, 2022 at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com mark-davis.  Friends may call Tuesday March 8, 2022 from 6PM until 8PM at the mortuary and on Wednesday from 10AM until service time.  Burial with military honors will be conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
