Mary Darlene Cole (England), age 73, passed away on August 22, 2025, in Franklin, Indiana. Born on December 27, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Mary lived a life marked by dedication to her family and community.

Mary began her professional journey as a hairdresser before transitioning into roles that reflected her caring nature and commitment to service.  She worked in dietary services at an assisted living facility and later found her calling behind the wheel—driving both a school bus and the Johnson County Access van.  Through these roles, she touched the lives of many across her community with kindness and reliability.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Herbert Cole Jr., of Franklin, Indiana; daughters Tonya Williams and Amber and Tony Jones (Hosier), also of Franklin; son Jason (April) Hayes; and stepdaughter Brittany Cole of Weirton, West Virginia.  Mary was a proud grandmother to Joseph Stafford of Greenwood, Indiana, and Kenneth Cooper (Amanda) of Louisville, Kentucky. Her legacy continues through nine great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother John Michael Bartkus (Sherry).

Mary was preceded in death by her mother Marianne Rebecca Planting (Hull), father Rex England, John and Elenor Purvus; siblings Diora (Diane) Ann Lockhart, Jeffery England, and Rebecca Marzullo; and great-grandson Luca Stafford.

Family was at the heart of Mary's world.  She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her love for the outdoors led to many memorable days camping and fishing.  A creative spirit at heart, she found joy in crafting—especially flower arranging, ceramics, and sewing.  In quieter moments, she was an avid reader with a particular interest in true crime stories.

Mary will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who knew her.  A memorial dinner will be held at a later date.
