Mary Rose, 90 years of age, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in Franklin, Indiana.

Mary Rose was born on October 25, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana and was the eldest daughter of the late Charles F. and Lorene M. Alhand.  She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Indianapolis and attended Marian College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.  She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with B.S. and master's degrees in education.

On January 24, 1953, she married Glenn R. Redlich in the chapel of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis.  They shared over 69 years together living briefly in Germany before settling in Wisconsin.  She worked for the Bell System in Indianapolis, Madison, WI and Milwaukee, WI for twelve years.  Her beauty and intelligence led her to become the face of the Bell System in TV and print advertising.  She then pursued her teaching degree and taught third grade at the local Bird Elementary school in Sun Prairie, WI for twenty-five years.  Mary Rose was known for her humor, love of nature and passion for sweets!  She used her talent in art and creativity to bring joy to everyday life. One of her favorite hobbies was playing cards with friends.  Mary Rose was a devout member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie, WI.

Mary Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn Redlich, her parents Charles and Lorene Alhand as well as his sister, Eileen Alhand Egenolf and brother, James R. Alhand, nephew, Charles P. Alhand, nieces, Kathleen Alhand Denton, Elizabeth Alhand, and their dog "Happy".

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ann Alhand and her nieces and nephews: Mary Lynn Alhand Flanigan, Dennis Alhand, Diane Egenolf Swint (Kenny), Donna Egenolf Scheidler (Ed), Michael Egenolf, Joan Egenolf Sledge and Lonnie Smith (Terry).  In addition, there are many great-nieces and nephews.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center is handling the arrangements.
