Obituary

Maureen Elise Cox, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on June 29, 2025. She was 78 years old.

She was born on August 3, 1946, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Sam and Ruth Cole, Maureen was raised in the heart of Grant County. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1964, where she was honored as the Outstanding Business Student of the Year—a testament to her sharp mind and determined spirit.  She worked at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 20 years.

On May 7, 1965, Maureen married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Cox.  Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith, and family.  This year marked their 60th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected their enduring devotion to one another.

Maureen was the proud mother of two sons, Christopher (Jennie) Cox and Eric (Stacy) Cox.  Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Hunter, Logan, Haley, Lynsie, and Jarred, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

A woman of deep faith, Maureen and Wayne were longtime members of Community Church of Greenwood and Mt. Pleasant Christian Church before finding a new spiritual home at Southland Community Church. Her life was a reflection of her unwavering belief in Christ, and she now rejoices in eternal worship with Him.

Maureen will be remembered for her warmth, grace, and steadfast love for her family and Savior.  Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will be treasured always.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
