McKim Phillip "Kim" Stropes Jr.

McKim Phillip “Kim” Stropes Jr., 87, of Bargersville, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born November 1, 1938 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN to McKim Phillip Albrecht “Mack” Stropes and Margaret Elizabeth (Fulmer) Stropes. Kim married Carolyn Sue (Aldrich) Stropes on November 1, 1958; she preceded him in death on October 12, 2022.

Kim was a 1956 graduate of Center Grove High School and attended Franklin College. He was a United States Army Veteran having been honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

Kim co-founded Indianapolis Threaded Rod and served as Vice-President of operations for 45 years.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Bargersville where he was active in the SAW’s ministry and the funeral meal ministry.

Kim found joy in the simple pleasures of life and loved keeping busy with the things he was passionate about. He especially enjoyed fishing, including memorable trips to Minnesota where he could spend time with his sons. He took great pride in tending his flower garden, caring for his bees, and working the farm along with the love of his life, Sue. Kim was also a talented woodworker who enjoyed creating things with his hands.

Kim and Sue shared a deep abiding love for their children and treasured the time they spent together as a family. Family was at the heart of their lives, and some of their fondest memories were made around the table during Sunday dinners - sharing meals, laughter, stories, and the simple joy of being together. Their love for one another and the memories they created will remain a cherished part of their family’s story for generations to come.
