Michael L. List, age 72, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on December 1, 2024. Mr. List was born on January 16, 1952 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Dolores Ann (Klemz) List and Otto Lorenz List. He was a graduate of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis and Purdue University with a B.S. in Landscape Architecture. He married Deeann (Mathis) Wiggins in 1984.He was retired from Indiana State Parks where he worked as a Park Planner and Landscape Architect for over 30 Years. He was passionate about Indiana State Parks and worked diligently to make them even more beautiful and accessible. Mr. List was fortunate to be involved in the planning for and development of two new state parks, Fort Harrison State Park and Charlestown State Park. He was heavily involved in the historic preservation project, Rose Island, at Charlestown State Park and the Circle of Stones at Prophetstown State Park. He was pleased to serve as President of the Johnson County Park Board. He was a member of Linwood Christian Church. He was an avid gardener and sports enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Dolores and Lorenz List, and a brother, Lorenz List. He is survived by his wife, Deeann List, a step son, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Wiggins, Ramona CA, a step daughter, April McManus, Beech Grove, IN, three grandchildren Scott Wiggins, Faith Wiggins, and Kathleen McManus, a brother, Jonathan (Tracey) List, Carmichael, CA, a sister, Johanna Schaub, Indianapolis, IN, and a brother Peter (Teresa) List, Chicago, IL. A funeral service for Mr. List will be conducted by Rev. Frank Everett on Saturday, December 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Linwood Christian Church, 4424 E. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN. Calling will be held before the service from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana State Parks, 402 W. Washington St., Room W298, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
