Michael Paul
Pelham
April 13, 1956 — February 8, 2026
Franklin
Michael "Mike" Paul Pelham, 69, of Franklin, Indiana, went to his heavenly home Sunday, February 8, 2026, with family at his side. Mike, born April 13, 1956, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, was the son of the late Wilbur and Elsie Pelham (Mieure). Mike graduated from Red Hill High School in 1974 in Bridgeport, Illinois, and he went on to graduate from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1978 with a degree in civil engineering.
Early in his career, Mike lived and worked for six years in Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudia Arabia. When he returned home, he worked as a county highway engineer for Johnson County, IN, and finished out his career with the Indiana Department of Transportation. He had just retired within the last four years.
Mike is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lora Janee (Redmon) Pelham. They were married on October 19, 1991 in Mt. Carmel, IL. Also surviving is his precious daughter Hannah Pelham of Franklin, IN, and both were the greatest joys of his life. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Sharon and Eddie Papps of Edinburgh, TX and Kathy and Bob Lerzo of Milledgeville, GA; nephew Michael Lerzo (Brittney) of Milledgeville, GA; niece Becca Lerzo of Savannah, GA; great-nephew Theodore M. Lerzo of Milledgeville, GA; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Vernon R. Redmon and LaDonna (Hetzel) Redmon and brother-in-law Gary Redmon.
As a sports fan, Mike played basketball and baseball in his childhood and golf and tennis as an adult. He enjoyed cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, but his truest devotion in sports was to his Chicago Cubs baseball team.
Over the years, Mike enjoyed many travels with his family, including places like the Grand Canyon, St. Croix, Disney World, and Hawaii. Of all his travels, the beach at Okaloosa Island was his favorite.
Mike was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Petersburg, Indiana, and a member of National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP). He was also an avid Mustang fan. Most importantly, Mike was a devoted and beloved member of the Turning Point Church family where he will be greatly missed. At the church he served such needs as security, worship coordinator, and member of the Blades of Glory team.
