Michael Dean Scheckles, 67, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Bargersville, IN passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN.
He was born July 9, 1956 in Franklin, IN to Lewis Donavon Scheckles and Almedia I. (Kincaid) Scheckles.
Michael was a graduate of Center Grove High School.
He had been an independent truck driver for many years.
Michael was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church in Greenwood, IN and the National Hot Rod Association. He enjoyed drag racing with his father and sons where he competed at the Brown County Dragway and the E.T. Raceway in Bloomfield, IN. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars and fabricating them. Mike also enjoyed watching GRIT TV westerns especially in black and white.
Survivors include his sons Brian Scheckles (Kimberly) of Greenwood, IN and Randy Scheckles (Brittany) of Franklin, IN, three grandchildren Braeden Scheckles, Hunter Scheckles and Randilyn Scheckles, his mother Almedia I. (Kincaid) Scheckles of Bargersville, IN two sisters Roberta L. Mathis of Greenwood, IN and Rebecca A. Garvin (Doug) of Whiteland, IN.
He was preceded in death by his wife Suzette (Doty) Scheckles on June 6, 2021 and his father Lewis Donavon Scheckles on April 3, 2008.
Pastor Jeremy Towne will conduct a service on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 4:30 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1PM until service time at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluff Creek Christian Church, 6286 State Road 144, Greenwood, IN 46143 or at www.bluffcreek.org .
