Michael Ray Spongberg, 67, of Venice, Florida passed away Tuesday, June 20th, 2023.

He was born December 22, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Roy Arnold Spongberg and Lona Marion (Murphy) Spongberg.

He had been a building commissioner for the city of Alsip, IL and a member of the Carpenters Union in Chicago, IL.

He loved sunsets at the jetty, golfing, Shark Week, Pepsi, driving instead of flying, the Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Bears, watching Jeopardy, and his dog Tucker.

Surviving are his sons Michael Spongberg (Elayne) of Franklin, IN, Eric Spongberg of Denver, CO and Brendan Spongberg of Alsip, IL, his mother Lona M. (Murphy) Spongberg of Venice, FL, two sisters Donna Spongberg (Jack Butler) of Venice, FL and Ann Issel (Jim) of Wayne, IL, two grandchildren Maxwell and Mackensi Spongberg of Franklin, IN.

His father Roy Arnold Spongberg and a brother Roy James Spongberg preceded him in death.

A celebration of life service for family and friends will be hosted at Beggar's Pizza, 12700 Kedzie Avenue Blue Island, IL 60406 with an addition celebration of life service for family will be in Venice, FL over Thanksgiving weekend of 2023..

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 in Franklin, IN is handling arrangements.
