Obituary

Michael L. Walker, 76, of Trafalgar, Indiana, passed away on May 6, 2025, surrounded by family. A lifelong farmer and owner of Mike Walker Incorporated, Michael dedicated his life to working the land, building foundations—both literal and familial—and living with grit, humility, and quiet strength.

Born on September 14, 1948 in Morgan County, he was the son of Herman L. Walker and Jean E. Walker.  From an early age, Michael found his calling in the soil, spending decades farming and shaping the earth with heavy equipment—skills he passed on to generations after him.  He was known in the community not only for his work ethic, but for his honesty, generosity, and the pride he took in a job well done.

Michael graduated from Trafalgar High School in 1966.  He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy lives on in the values and work ethic he instilled in his family.

Though Michael wasn't one to travel far—never wanting to miss a moment at home or leave something undone—he had a soft spot for last-minute trips to the casino.  He relished the spontaneity, the thrill of the game, and the laughs shared along the way.

He also cherished his daily routine of getting coffee with his buddies each morning—sharing stories, debating politics, and enjoying the kind of friendship that only time and shared history can build.

Survivors include his daughter Kelly M. Miller (Arthur) of Trafalgar, IN, his son Kevin M. Walker (Lori) of Trafalgar, IN, his grandchildren Courtney Rushton (Bryan) of Columbus, IN, Haley Moore of Trafalgar, IN, Katie Van Hoy (Elliott) of Franklin, IN and Kelsie Walker of Trafalgar, IN, his great grandchildren Keaton, Sutton, Pierce, Kade, Brooks, and soon to be baby girl Van Hoy, and his special friend Patty Blanford of Martinsville, IN. His siblings Linda Lanning of Greenfield, IN, Susie Graphman (Jerry) of Beanblossom, IN, Jane Woker (Daryl) of Greenfield, IN, Ann Richardson (Mike) of Trafalgar, IN, John Walker (Tonya) of Trafalgar, IN and Pam Seals of Monrovia, IN.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet Tansel.
