Obituary

Mikle Alan Partlow, 74, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025. He was born on November 13, 1951, in Savannah, Georgia, to Orlie Raoul Partlow and Marilyn Joanna (Pulliam) Partlow. On May 1, 1981, he married Karen Ann (Ford) Partlow, his devoted wife of more than 44 years, who survives.

Mikle was raised in Plainfield, Indiana, and graduated from Plainfield High School. He later attended Lincoln Tech, where he studied automotive technology, before building a career as an environmental engineer.

In his younger years, Mikle enjoyed the simplicity of farm and rural life before settling in Indianapolis. He carried a lifelong love of boating, beginning with his first boat at the age of 13 and continuing throughout his life. Another passion of his were the numerous motorcycles he rode. He raced them in the 1970's and later transitioned to street riding, visiting many states alongside his wife and close friends, creating countless memories along the way. As his adventures evolved, Mikle embraced camping with his toy hauler so his motorcycle could travel with him. In 2019, he traded his motorcycle for a golf cart, and began enjoying winters as a Florida snowbird.

Mikle devoted 35 years of service as a safety engineer with Universal Flavors, later known as Sensient, before retiring. Alongside his full-time career, he installed several types of flooring. Known for his strong work ethic, Mikle believed deeply in balancing work with enjoying life-especially time spent with family and numerous close friends. He worked hard to play hard!

Above all, Mikle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Karen Partlow; his brother, Christopher (Sylvia) Partlow; his son, Steven Daniels; his daughter, Melissa (Jeremy) Butterfield; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his cherished daughter, Brandi Partlow.

Mikle will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, steady dedication, and the deep love he had for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Mikle's life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S US 31 (Morton Street), Franklin, Indiana.
