Pansy Alletta (Grissom) Dowden, 81, of Greenwood, IN passed away Wednesday September 20, 2023 at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park in Franklin, IN.

She was born May 9, 1942 in Evening Shade, Arkansas to Floyd Edmond Grissom and Clara Mabel (McGuire) Grissom.  She married Jerry Gale Dowden on December 29, 1964 at Smith Valley United Methodist Church in Greenwood, IN; he preceded her in death on December 24, 2015.

She had been a supervisor for housewares at the Greenwood Kohl's for 20 years before retiring.

Pansy grew up in Matthews, Missouri and graduated high school from there.  She enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with family.

Survivors include her daughter April L. Pratt and son-in-law Chris Pratt of Greenwood, IN, several nieces and nephews including Jim Williams (Amy) of Greenwood, IN, Cheryl Cook (David) of Greenwood, IN and Debbie Clark of Greenwood, IN and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers William "Bill" Grissom and Donald Jack Grissom.

The Reverend Shan Rutherford and Jim Williams will conduct a service on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  Friends may call Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 11AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
