Obituary

Patricia L. "Pat" (Allen) Deer of Fort Collins, Colorado, and former resident of Johnson County, Indiana, passed away on April 2, 2026. She was born October 28, 1935, in Greenwood, Indiana, to William Shade Allen and Lila (Pearson) Allen who preceded her in death. She married Lance F. Deer on October 25, 1958, at the Greenwood United Methodist Church.  He preceded her in death on February 8, 2016.  She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Dr. Jim Ascough II.

She was a 1953 graduate of Whiteland High School and 1956 graduate of Indianapolis Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.  She attended IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN.

She was employed as a registered nurse at the office of Drs. W.W. Stogsdill and H.K. Andrews, at Johnson Memorial Hospital and retired after 14 years as Director of Nursing at Franklin United Methodist Community.

Pat was a past member of Franklin Eastside Quilters, American Sewing Guild, Classic Car Club of America, Milestone Car Society, Packard International Car Club, Johnson County Retired Nurses, Ladies Scottish Rite, Franklin Presbyterian Church, and Faith Church of Fort Collins.

She is survived by her daughter Dr. Lois Ann Deer-Ascough of Fort Collins, Colorado; son Bruce Allen Deer (Melinda) of Benton, Arkansas; granddaughter Katie Ann Ascough of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandsons T.J. Ascough (Serena) of Firestone, Colorado; Carson F. Deer of Kewaskum, Wisconsin; step-granddaughter Mahala Logue of Benton, Arkansas; great-grandson James D. Ascough; and sister-in-law Carolyn Walters of Palm Coast, Florida.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin.  A graveside service will follow at 11AM at Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
