Patricia “Pat” Ann (Kidwell) Walls, 88, passed away on July 23, 2026, at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community. She was born on September 1, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN.
Patricia grew up in Greenwood, Indiana as one of eight children in a close, loving family. She graduated from Center Grove High School in 1955.
Patricia lived a full and faithful life centered around her family, her church, and serving others. She was a devoted wife, mother, mamaw, and great-mamaw who found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved. Whether cheering from the sidelines as a proud Lassie League coach, or gathering everyone around the table, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. An avid sports fan, she had a special love for IU basketball.
Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Patricia and her husband, Kenny, were faithful and active members of several churches over the years, including Edgewood United Methodist Church—where they were married in 1959—Smith Valley United Methodist Church, Community Church of Greenwood, and Southland Community Church. She poured her heart into serving others through her church, including leading Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) groups, cooking at church camps, and faithfully serving in the coffee ministry.
Patricia was also known for her incredible cooking and generosity. She worked at Pride Vending and was an owner of J. Howard’s Steakhouse, where her meals brought comfort and connection to many. She had a special gift for caring for others through food, whether it was preparing dinners for those in need or sharing her well-loved spice rings, which became a signature expression of her love.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Kenneth, and sons Kevin Walls (Kim) of Bargersville, IN, Keith Walls (Angie) of Franklin, IN, Greg Walls (Chris) of Whiteland, IN and Randy Walls (Joy) of Greenwood, IN. Patricia had eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren in Greenwood, Franklin, Trafalgar and Noblesville, Indiana; Mount Vernon, OH; Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents Goldie Fern (Kephart) and Arthur Newton Kidwell and her siblings Viola June Snyder, William Lawrence Kidwell, Mildred Louise Lentz, Arthur Robert “Bob” Kidwell, Vivian Peters, Harry Lee Kidwell and John Howard Kidwell.
Pastor Kerry Huffman will conduct a funeral service to honor Pat’s life on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 12pm at Southland Community Church, 5800 W. Smith Valley Road in Greenwood, IN. Friends may call Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and from 11am to the time of service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
