Paul Gregory "Greg" Black, age 73, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on February 9, 2025, after a battle with an aggressive form of cancer.  His wife, Pam, and daughters, Jennifer and Tricia, were by his side at the time of his passing.

Greg was born on December 16, 1951, in Richmond, Indiana, to parents, James C. and Juanita M. Black.  He spent his younger years growing up in Flint, Michigan.  In 1961, Greg and his family moved to Franklin.  After graduating from Franklin Community High School in 1970; he went on to serve six years in the United States Air Force Reserves.

Greg was employed at the local telephone company (formerly known as United Telephone Company) for over 42 years; retiring in 2016.  During those years, Greg developed friendships with some wonderful people, many who remain his very dear friends.  Greg had an adventurous spirit.  Over the years, he enjoyed go-kart racing, riding his Harley, restoring a 1967 Camaro convertible, a log cabin in Brown County that was built with 1800's era logs, and more recently a 1973 Airstream.  He was also known to transform his back yard landscape without hesitation. Over the years, he built a flagstone patio; a deck, installed a pond and waterfalls.  Sometimes, tearing it apart until he was satisfied.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Franklin American Legion Post 205.  He was also a member of the Timbergate Golf Club where he enjoyed playing golf on Wednesday mornings with his golfing buddies.  He also loved playing Dart's with friends at Hood's garage every Thursday night.

Greg was very proud of his grandchildren.  He loved supporting them whether it be in their school activities, sporting events, or showing livestock.

Greg's kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him.  His friends and family remember him as a man of great integrity and warmth.  Stories from loved ones capture his love for life and the positive impact he had on those around him.

Although Greg is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.

Greg is survived by his wife, Pam, his daughters, Jennifer (Ed) Roberts, of Nineveh, Indiana; Tricia (Robert) Sharp of Morgantown, Indiana; granddaughters, Sydney Roberts, Lauren and Savana Sharp.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Mark (Lynn) Smith of Franklin, Indiana.  His beloved labradoodle, "Yutzy", survives him and will miss him dearly.

Greg was predeceased by his parents; brother, Dave; and grandson, Jacob Roberts, with whom he shared a special bond.  We know that Jacob will meet his grandpa with a "whaaass up" greeting.

To honor Greg's wishes, a memorial service will be private.

A celebration of Greg's life will be held at the American Legion Post 205, 1200 Park Avenue, Franklin, Indiana, on Sunday, February 16th between 1-3pm.
