Obituary

Peggy Ann (Adams) Vaught, 83, of Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Johnson County, IN passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born April 7, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN to Roy and Mary Louise (Gluff) Adams.

Peggy married Michael B. Vaught on March 20, 1988 at Mt. Auburn Church at Stones Crossing, Greenwood, IN.  He survives.

She was a 1959 graduate of Center Grove High School and received her nursing degree from I.U.P.U.I.

Peggy had been a recovery nurse at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN for twelve years.

She was a member of Southport Heights Christian Church in Indianapolis, IN.

Peggy and her husband enjoyed traveling and especially their trip to Israel where they were baptized in the Jordan River and later renewed their wedding vows in Tahiti. She also enjoyed being a seamstress.

Survivors include her husband Michael B. Vaught of Indianapolis, IN, her son William Brian Walker and daughter-in-law Michelle (Bloomquist) Walker of Greenwood, IN, her granddaughter Kaitlynn Hendershot (Grant) of Greenwood, IN, a great-granddaughter Margot Hendershot (due in February),  her grandson Garrett Walker (Andrea) of Cincinnati, OH, her stepdaughter Rayna Godfrey (George) of Ponte Vedra  Beach, FL, three sisters Sandy Thomann (Randy) of Rockford, IL, Martha Orme of Helotes, TX and Denise Cross (Ben) of Cookeville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Mary Louise (Gluff) Adams, her daughter Lea Ann Walker on June 2, 1975 and her stepson Wesley Michael Vaught on October 17, 1990.

Pastor Steve Ferguson will conduct a service on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 4PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/peggyvaught.  Friends may call Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 2PM until the 4PM service time at the mortuary.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN with a lunch provided following the service at Southport Heights Christian Church.
