Obituary

Peter "Pete" E. Tinkle, 74, of Mooresville, IN passed away Monday, May 30, 2022 at his residence.  He was born August 18, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN to Harold Samuel "Sam" Tinkle Sr. and Arvetta Lorene (Kinnick) Tinkle.  He married Sandy O. (Day) Tinkle on March 5, 1966 at Greenwood United Methodist Church, she preceded him in death.

He was a 1965 graduate of Center Grove High School.  Pete was a United States Army Veteran.  He retired from Indianapolis Power and Light in 2001 as a mechanic.  He previously had worked for Guy McFarland and Sons Golden Guernsey Dairy Farms in Southport.  He enjoyed working with his brothers on restoring International Harvester-Farmall tractors and farming.  Pete was a member of Heartland Church of Christ in Greenwood, IN and former member of Stop 11 Road Church of Christ in Indianapolis, IN and also a member of the Johnson County Antique Machinery Association.

Survivors include his children Robbin Stephens (Gary) of  Mooresville, IN, Brent Tinkle (Janet Crawford) of Sevierville, TN and Scott Tinkle (Jodi) of Plainfield, IN, five grandchildren Samantha Strailovic (Denis), Sarah Stephens (Samuel Stemler), Sonya Stephens (Casey Dawson), Shelia Stephens (Skylar McLaughlin) and Cody Tinkle (Jadon), three great-grandchildren Rylee McLaughlin, Addyson McLaughlin and Elliana Stephens, sisters Priscilla Daschiell (Bob-deceased) of Greenwood, IN, Peggy Harold (Bob) of Greenwood, IN, Pam Harold (David) of Greenwood, IN, Portia Hughes (Larry) of Bargersville, IN, Patricia Jones (Bruce) of Franklin, IN and Paulette Lott (Jack) of Whiteland, IN, brothers Phil Tinkle of Greenwood, IN, Perry Tinkle (Suzie) of Greenwood, IN, Sam Tinkle Jr. (Nancy) of Bargersville, IN, Preston Tinkle (Brandy) of Franklin, IN, Parvin Tinkle (Julie) of Franklin, IN and Presley Tinkle (Julia) of Franklin, IN , special friend Patricia Whalin of Mooresville, IN, a sister-in-law Frances Tinkle of Silver Springs, FL, and Wilma D. Tinkle of Bargersville, IN and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sandy O. (Day) Tinkle on September 17, 2009, his father Harold Samuel Tinkle Sr. on June 18, 2020, his mother Arvetta Lorene (Kinnick) Tinkle on January 16, 1981, brothers Paul E. Tinkle on July 5, 2014 and Patrick E. Tinkle on April 28, 2022, and a sister Penny Tinkle on June 24, 1972.

Pastor Charles Blair will conduct a service on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com .  Friends may call Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 2PM until 6PM at the mortuary.  Burial with military honors by the United States Army Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
