Phyllis Beasley, 85, peacefully passed away on September 3, 2022, surrounded by her cherished loved ones.  Nothing brought Phyllis greater joy than spending time with her family.  She loved hosting family gatherings, celebrating her faith, serving her church and community, traveling, and reading. She touched the lives of many with her vibrant spirit and unwavering optimism.

Born to Edgar and Mattie Bohanan as the youngest of eight children, she grew up in Indianapolis, IN and graduated from Southport High School.  She attended Butler University and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Phyllis worked as a medical secretary at Thorton-Haymond Medical Laboratory before joining Eli Lilly and Company.  Later, as a stay-at-home mom, she received an Associate Degree in General Studies from IUPUI, and at the age of 48, went back to school to become a paralegal.  She worked for 10 years at McCready and Keene, Inc.  She loved studying and her most fulfilling course was 7 years of intense Bible Study in the international program, Bible Study Fellowship. Phyllis was most recently a member of Mount Pleasant Church in Greenwood, IN.

Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband and companion of 61 years, Howard Beasley. Other survivors include his son David Beasley (Meg), four grandchildren, Mitchell, Colleen, Beth and Drew, and two great-grandchildren whom she enjoyed so much, Memphis and Azalea.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Mark Beasley (Cathy) and her siblings.

Burial will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. Services are private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin, IN is handling arrangements.  Information at 317-738-0202.
