Obituary

Phyllis Jean (Belcher) Cain, 89, of Franklin, IN, formerly of Indianapolis and Beech Grove passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, IN.

She was born February 6, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN to William Thomas Belcher and Edna Bella (Livingston) Belcher.  She married William Carmon Cain on September 3, 1971; he preceded her in death on August 12, 2018.

Phyllis retired as a clerk for Bank One in Indianapolis for twenty years and was a family caregiver.

She loved spending time with her family above all else especially when it involved eating "sweets".

The family would like to give special thanks to Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center staff for taking such excellent care of our beautiful Mom/Granny.

Survivors include her son William M. Cain (daughter-in-law Sara) of Franklin, IN, grandchildren William Donovan Cain of Columbus, OH, Joseph C. Cain (Makayla) of Greenwood, IN, Annabeth A. Cain of Franklin, IN and Alexander L. Cain of Franklin, IN, great-grandmother "Granny" to Raelynn Elizabeth Cain, Olivia Blazer and Henry Blazer, cousins Judy Paddick (Jerry), Delores Bowser (Dennis), Laura Boatman (Steve) and Larry Barker all affectionately referred to as the Illinois crew, a nephew Randy Belcher of Indianapolis, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Thomas Belcher and Edna Bella (Livingston) Belcher, her husband William Carmon Cain, her daughter Tammy J. Outlaw on July 8, 2012, a sister Carolyn Belcher, brother Bill Belcher and a nephew Mike Belcher.

A sweet celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 2PM until 6PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.  Her inurnment will take place alongside her husband at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family toward funeral expenses or feel free to bring a sweet treat.  Indulge your sweet tooth and share some memories.
