Phyllis Ann Owen, 86, of Westfield, IN, formally of Hammond, Indiana before retiring in Arizona passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. She will be missed by her loving family and friends.
She was born on July 19, 1938 in Granite City, Illinois, the beloved daughter of Eugean James and Estelle Dorothy (Meier) Owen.
Phyllis had founded and worked several businesses in the Chicago area, including Owen Communications, LTD and a Real Estate Broker for Berkshire Hathaway. She lived most of her adult life in Chicago. Phyllis was a volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House for children for many years. Phyllis served also as a Eucharistic Minister for Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago for the home bound.
Phyllis is survived by her brothers: Jim (Sally) Owen of Sarasota, Fl, David (Mary) Owen of Lisle, IL, Richard (Susie) Owen of Westfield, IN, Tom (Debbie) Owen of Little Rock, AR, Ronnie (Monica) Owen of Phoenix, AZ, Eugean Owen of Greenville, SC and Adam (Andrea) Owen of Austin, TX, sisters Joyce (George) Erlandson of Greenville, SC and Mary (Mirce) Lozevski of Phoenix, AZ, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Father Sean V. Pogue will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 12 Noon at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 410 South Pearl Street in Cicero, IN and will be live-streamed at www.sacredheartcicero.org website livestream.
Father Reynaldo Clutario will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 3550 E. Knox Road, Phoenix, Arizona.
Inurnment will take place at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, AZ.
Arrangements are being made through Swartz Family Community Mortuary And Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
