Rebecca Jane (Poe) Wertz, 75, of Franklin, IN passed away Monday, September 7, 2026. She was born October 8, 1950 in Madisonville, KY to Melvin and Winnie Mae (Raines) Poe. She graduated from Heath High School in Paducah, KY and went to Murray State University where she met the love of her life, Richard L Wertz. They were married December 22, 1968 in Murray, KY. She also received her Master’s Degree from Indiana University.

Becky was a business schoolteacher at Indian Creek High School and Blue River Technical School before becoming a homemaker and raising her two children, Raeann and Ryan. She was very involved in her community as a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Tri-Kappa, Girls Inc., 100 Women Club, Johnson County Community Foundation, and Millenium Money Makers Stock Club.

Becky was a wonderful wife, mother, mimi, and friend to so many. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren’s activities. She was a devote Christian and loved Bible Studies. Richard and Becky traveled all over the world in the last 30 years. They spent a lot of time in Hilton Head Island, SC which became their second home.

Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Richard L Wertz, her children, Raeann (David) Moore of Franklin, IN and Ryan (Renee) Wertz of Greenwood, IN, four grandchildren, Tyler Moore, Garrett (Maddie) Snyder, Halle Wertz, Andrew Wertz and one great-granddaughter Kinley Snyder. Becky had many friends who will also miss her dearly.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Donna Everett and Sonda Phelps.

A Celebration of Life and A gathering of family and friends and a celebration of life will be held at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street), Franklin, IN on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 2:30 PM with a short service to follow at 2:30 PM with Pastor Josh Cadwell conducting and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/rebeccawertz. Friends and family are invited to come to the Garment Factory from 3:30 – 6:00 for a small reception.
