Richard D. McDonald, 82, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Greenfield, IN passed away Monday, July 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 4, 1941 in St. Clair, Illinois to Robert and Helen (Green) McDonald.

Richard married Carol A. (Jones) McDonald on September 16, 1987 in Louisville, KY, she survives.

He had been a furniture sales associate for several years having been associated with several retail furniture stores in his career.

Richard enjoyed yard work, growing flowers and barbecuing.  He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge 1818.

Survivors include his wife Carol A. (Jones) McDonald of Franklin, IN, his son Rick McDonald (Lisa) of Noblesville, IN, his daughter Sheryl Barnett (Mark) of Mooresville, IN, his stepchildren Juanita "Anita" Hayworth (James) of Nineveh, IN, Teresa Boehle (Thomas) of Ft. Myers, FL, Angela Ambrose of Lewisburg, TN and Paul Ambrose (Darlene) of Franklin, IN, ten grandchildren, nineteen great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, a brother Jerry McDonald (Diane) of Greenville, OH.

His parents, a son Robert McDonald and a brother Ralph McDonald, preceded him in death.

Richard's son-in-law, Mark Barnett, will conduct a service on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) Franklin, IN 46131 and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  Friends may call Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 11AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
