Obituary

Richard Earl Wray, 87, of Bargersville, IN passed away surrounded by family at home on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 6:05 a.m.

Richard was born July 31, 1938 in Bloomington, IN to Lynul and Helen (Norman) Wray and was raised in Franklin, IN. He married Linda (Clarkston) Wray on October 28th, 1966 at Gospel Assembly Church in Indianapolis, IN.  They dedicated 59 years to one another in a marriage led by their Christian faith and their love for their four sons.

Richard's career began at Arvin's in Greenwood, IN.  He advanced quickly in his pursuits and eventually became the property superintendent for the National Bank of Greenwood; he later retired at age 59.  Richard loved the outdoors and creating cherished memories with his family and friends. He was also a skilled craftsman and enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; his sons, Richard (Tammy) Wray of Trafalgar, IN, Barry (Julie) Wray of Greenwood, IN, and Michael (Tricia) Wray of Martinsville, IN; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild arriving this spring.  He is also survived by his brothers, Bob Lentz of Franklin, IN, and Ken (Dee) Wray of Trafalgar, IN. Richard is preceded in death by his son, Todd Wray; his father, Lynul Wray; and his mother, Helen (Norman) Wray.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life for Richard on March 7, 2025, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Painted Hills Clubhouse (in the Basement) located at 4364 E Rembrandt Dr., Martinsville, IN 46151.  Light refreshments will be available.

Richard will be cremated and laid to rest at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Lawrence County, IN. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN, is handling the arrangements.
