Our hearts are heavy as we share the news of the passing of Rita (Stratton) Lang.  A cherished Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt who left us peacefully on March 19, 2025 at the age of 80.

Rita was born on January 21,1945 in Batesville, Indiana the daughter of Joseph Rolla Stratton and Hazel Margaret (Robertson) Stratton.  She grew up on a small farm outside of Versailles, Indiana the baby sister to brothers Bill, Frank and Marvin Stratton.

Rita moved to Indianapolis after graduating from Versailles High School in 1963 and married Dean Lang on March 5, 1966.  The couple had two boys, Steve and Eric Lang

Rita worked for the State of Indiana before becoming a night supervisor at Central Hardware.   After spending a few years as a homemaker while Steve and Eric were in elementary and middle school, she became a receptionist and then a project researcher for the architecture firm of Browning, Day, Mullins & Dierdorf before retiring after 20 years to become a nanny for her Grandson Michael.

In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, country line dancing, McDonald's Fountain Coke and reading.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers.  She is survived by her sons Steve (Dawn) Lang and Eric (Carey) Lang, granddaughter Emma Lang and grandson Michael Lang.

Visitation will be held Saturday May 3rd, 2025 from 12-1:30 with funeral service to follow at St. Thomas Episcopal Church 600 Paul Hand Boulevard, Franklin, IN 46131 with internment into the St. Thomas Memory Garden following the service.
