Rita Renata (Oleniczak) Nies, 92, of Franklin, IN passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park in Franklin, IN. She was born September 11, 1929 in South Bend, IN to Lodge and Priscilla (Sadie) Oleniczak. She married Casimer "Buzz" Nies on December 25, 1953, he preceded her in death on August 22, 1995.
She had been a bookkeeper for Rink River Side Printing in South Bend, IN and South Bend Control.
She loved to cook for family and friends and bless people in any way she could. She accepted Christ as her Savior and studied the bible with wonderful women at Grabill Missionary Church. Rita sang in the choir at St. Hedwig Church in South Bend, IN before she moved to Leo. She loved traveling, including the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Survivors include her daughter Marcia Rayl (Ron) of Nineveh, IN and son Michael Nies (Sandie) of Iron River, MI, grandchildren Kyle Rayl (Jenna) of Noblesville, IN, Kristin Rodman (Matthew) of Greenwood, IN, Kassandra Koll (Kevin) of Chicago, IL and Kathryn Braznichenko (Dimitry) of Chicago, IL, great-grandchildren Tynley and Jacoby Rayl, Brady and Zoey Rodman, Grace and Luke Koll and Maxim and Nicholas Braznichenko.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Hildegarde Palicki, Genevieve Gregg and Lorraine Wielgos and one brother Casimer Oleniczak.
A private family service was conducted on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
