Robert D. Mitchell, 89, of Taylorsville, IN passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, IN.
He was born February 27, 1935 in Franklin, IN to Frank and Ruby (Barnett) Mitchell.
Robert Married Cecelia I. "Babe" (Petro) Mitchell on February 20, 1991 in Franklin, IN, she preceded him in death on March 14, 2015.
He graduated from Needham School in Johnson County.
He was a United States Army Veteran.
Robert was a lifelong farmer in Franklin.
He enjoyed gardening, farming and spending time with his late wife.
Survivors include his children Robert B. Fulkerson of Washington, IN, Deborah A. Fulkerson of Indianapolis, IN and Kimberly D. Smith (Donald) of Taylorsville, IN, seven grandchildren Angie E. Meadows (Ben) of West Virginia, Rev. Chad A. Fulkerson (April) of Indianapolis, IN, Ashley N. Judge (Joshua) of Greenwood, IN, Robyn L. Buck (Craig) of Edinburgh, IN, Lindsey P. Smith and Nataley B. Smith both of Columbus, IN, Rachelle Henderson of Washington, IN, fourteen great-grandchildren Savanna, Kirsten, Dakota, Lucy, Jaxon, Miranda, Emerson, Adilyn, Ivy, Ryker, Bennett, Annabelle, Jonah and Joscelyn, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Thomas E. Mitchell and Norman B. Mitchell, a sister Margaret Louis Mitchell Jones.
Pastor Anthony Gearlds will conduct a service on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 4PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Friday, April 5, 2024 from 2:30PM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
