Robin Kay Tames

Robin Kay (Gillespie) Tames, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on August 20, 2026, following a battle with cancer.

Robin grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. Passionate about helping people, she worked as an eligibility specialist for the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration, connecting families in need with local resources.

Robin was predeceased by her father, Maurice Gillespie, and her mother, Alice (Ansberry) Gillespie. She is survived by her beloved husband, Steven; her son, Matthew, his wife, Alison, of Exeter, New Hampshire; and her son, Kevin, his wife, Michelle of Indianapolis, IN, and their two sons Easton Tames and Nolan Tames. She is also survived by her siblings, William Gillespie (Sandy Levi) of Florida, Debbie Harris of Indianapolis, IN, and Tom Gillespie.

One of Robin’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, Easton and Nolan. She was also a devoted animal lover and cherished the companionship of her beloved German Shepherds: Star, Ali, Chase, Arie, and Rio. A lifelong fan of INDYCAR Racing, Robin is memorialized on her family’s brick at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Brickyard.

During the final days of her illness, Robin was lovingly cared for by her husband, Steven, and their two sons, as well as her brother Bill and Sandy. Her extended family is grateful that she passed peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones.

Robin will be remembered for the warmth, kindness, and generosity she shared with those around her. She leaves behind many cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:30AM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 5171 West Smokey Row Road Greenwood, IN 46143, followed by a funeral service at 11:30AM on Saturday August 29, 2026 with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.

A private family graveside service will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
