Roger D. Farmer

Roger Lee Farmer, 81, of Franklin, IN passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community in Franklin, IN.

He was born on March 28, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Raymond and Margaret (Stith) Farmer.

Roger married Susan (Heithecker) Farmer in 1963, she preceded him in death. He later married Diane (DuKate) Farmer in 1994, she survives.

He had been employed by General Motors in Indianapolis, enjoyed farming and was an avid golfer.

Roger was a kind man and always ready to lend a helping hand.

Survivors include his wife Diane (Dukate) Farmer of Franklin, IN, his children Jeffrey Lee Farmer (Janet) of Westfield, IN, Dawn Farmer Coryell (Terry) of Morgantown, IN and Dana Farmer Lappin (Dan) of Westfield, IN, Diane’s children Tanya Smythe (Mark) of Franklin, IN, Rex Woodbury (Belinda-deceased) of Thailand, Dana Grimmer (Pete) of Franklin, IN and Jami Houston (Dr. Andrew) of Franklin, IN, and together Roger and Diane had 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, his wife and sister Shirley Farmer Kaiser.

Chaplain Bob Newlin will conduct a celebration of life memorial service on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 3PM at the Wright Chapel at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, in Franklin, IN 46131.

A gathering will follow the service at Hillview Country Club in Franklin, IN.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
