Ruth E. (Green) Westcott, 92, of Franklin, IN passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. She was born October 27, 1932 in Monroe County, Indiana to Joseph and Della Pearl (Eastridge) Green.
She attended Union Township grade school and was a 1951 graduate of Franklin High School. Ruth married Harry Westcott on November 17, 1967 in Columbia, South Carolina; he preceded her in death on November 4, 2015. Ruth retired from the AT&T Laboratories as a managerial assistant.
She was a long-time and very active member of Franklin First Baptist Church of Franklin, IN, serving as a children's Sunday school teacher, a deacon, a member of the Crusaders class and took part in some of the church's mission trip. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Delta Theta Sorority, a past member of the Johnson County Historical Society, and friends of the Johnson County Library. Ruth loved traveling, reading, gardening, and loved to feed and watch the birds.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Elizabeth Henninger, Pauline Clem, Evelyn Hardin and her brother George Green.
Chaplain Deb Baker and the Reverend Dr. Mark Hetrick will conduct a service on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 3PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/ruthwestcott. Friends may call Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 1PM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
