Obituary

Sara "Sally" L. Baker, 85, of Franklin, IN, a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025 surrounded by her family.  She was a source of strength and kindness for all who knew her.  She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.  She was born February 8, 1940 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Emerson Otto Baker and Kathryn M. (Esamann) Baker.

She is survived by her children, Julie Stafford (Rod), Jon Pio (Julie), Mark Pio and Jennifer Gragg (Ray), her grandchildren Lindsey Montgomery, Collin Weber (Stephanie), Christopher Pio, Emma Brady (Ryan), Gehrig Gragg, Kennedy Gragg, Jackson Pio, Cooper Pio, Riley Pio, great-grandchildren Eli Weber and Noah Weber.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Richard Baker and her parents Emerson Otto Baker and Kathryn M. (Esamann) Baker.

Sally graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis in 1958, The School of Practical Nursing in Indianapolis in 1959 with a degree as a LPN.

She was an avid reader and had a passion for gardening.  She loved tendering her beautiful flowers.  Sally was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin.  The family would like to thank Pastor Peter Jessen for his faithfulness and visits to our mom.

The family would also like to than the Assisted Living and Memory Care Unit at Bickford of Greenwood for their exceptional care give to our mother.  We are truly grateful for the kindness, support and love they have shown to our mom and to our family during this difficult time.

The family would also like to thank the Luminary Hospice team for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.

Private services were held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
