Obituary

Stanley W. Earles, 82, of Franklin, IN passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at his home in rural Johnson County.

Stan was born on January 4, 1943 in Adair County, Kentucky.  He was adopted by loving parents James W. and Mary F. (Swartz) Earles of Franklin, Indiana at age 4.

He married Sara E. (Ballard) Earles on January 22, 1961.

Stan retired from Allison Detroit Diesel and was a very proud UAW union member.

He loved sports and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.  He was especially close to his grandchildren and spent many happy hours with them.  Stan loved old country music and made many friends while singing Karaoke over the years.

Stan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sara E. (Ballard) Earles of Franklin, IN, his son Scott Earles of Franklin, IN, his daughter Tina (Jim) Buchanan of New Whiteland, IN, his grandson James Pickhardt of Franklin IN, his granddaughter Emily (Jeremy) Johnson of Greenwood, IN and great-granddaughter Kyla Pickhardt of Greenwood, IN.  Also surviving are sister Arlene Inabnitt of Franklin, IN, brother Steve (Kim) Earles of Franklin, IN, sister Ann Cook of Franklin, IN, brother Harold Zeigler of Spearsville, IN, stepbrother Jeffrey (Linda) Coy of Franklin, IN, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James W. Earles and Mary F. (Swartz) Earles Coy, his son Brian Kelly Earles, brother Carlos L. Rooks, and sisters Janet Robinson and Melba Kay Pierce.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Main Street Hospice, in particular aide LaVenda, volunteer Jeff and nurse Lucy, for their care and support of Stan and the family.

A time of sharing and gathering will take place on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 2PM until 5PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
