Greenwood
Thomas Michael Cox, 79, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on December 1, 2025. He was born on December 6, 1945, in Manchester, New Hampshire, to the late Vincent F. Settle and Willa Mae (Bartlett) Settle.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he built a long and distinguished career with American States Insurance, where he served as a Division Manager for 38 years before retiring in 2002.
Throughout his life, Tom lived in several communities that shaped him—Montgomery, Alabama; Springfield, Ohio; Bloomington, Minnesota; and finally Greenwood, Indiana. While in Minnesota, he faithfully taught Sunday School for elementary and middle school children and remained active in church life wherever he lived. In later years, he served as a Life Group Leader at Emmanuel Church, Stones Crossing Campus, where he formed meaningful relationships and strengthened the faith of those around him.
On April 28, 1979, Tom married Julie K. (Keller) Cox in Montgomery, Alabama, she survives, carrying forward their 46 years of shared love and devotion.
Tom is also survived by his children, Mark (Christi) Cox of Missouri City, Texas, and Rachel (Dave) Lahm of Greenwood, Indiana; and by his cherished grandchildren, Kipton, Caden, and Cohen Cox, and Lucy and Oliver Lahm. He is further survived by his sister Michele (John) Hewitt of Headland, Alabama, a sister-in-law, Marsha (Bobby) Huguley of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Cox.
Tom will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his servant's heart, and his dedication to his family. His kindness, steadiness, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him, and his legacy continues in the lives of those he lovingly guided.
