Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Edward Kasting, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 28, 2025.  He was born on September 18, 1950; in Franklin, IN., Tom married Phyllis (Whaley) on May 28, 1977 in Stanford, IN.

Tom graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1968.  From a young age, he developed a passion for farming, spending his life proudly working the land he loved, experimenting with new techniques, and growing crops throughout the area.  Alongside his farming career, he spent many years owning and operating K&K Trucking. Tom also had a decorated run in Super Stock tractor pulling, earning a place of honor with his induction into the Hoosier State Tractor Pullers Hall of Fame in 2016.

Tom's kindness, sociable nature, easy laughter, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him, maybe also as "Tommy K", "Big Tom" and "TK".  Whether he was sharing a game of poker or craps with friends, coaching a youth basketball team, supporting 4-H events Tom made everyone feel like family.

He had a gift for lighting up the room and never missed a chance to catch up with his daily and weekly phone call rotation, calling to ask, "What's new?"  Tom was also a member of Franklin Elks Club #1818, Franklin Masonic Lodge #107, Johnson County Fair Association, and Grace United Methodist Church.

Tom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis; his children Kyle (Kelsey) Kasting and Kim Kasting (Todd Coons) all of Franklin, IN, his sister Nickala "Nicki" Kasting of Franklin, IN, and his treasured granddaughters, Avery and Ellie Minton, Landry and Lacey Kasting.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred "Willie" and Mary Lynn (Carter) Kasting.
