Vera Ann Fisher

Vera Ann (Alexander) Fisher, 93, of Bargersville, IN passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN.

She was born September 25, 1932 in Shullsburg, Wisconsin to Charles and Josephine (Meehan) Alexander. Vera married John L. Fisher; he preceded her in death on April 13, 2009. After his death, her dog Flippy was an important part of her life.

She had been a forklift operator for Glass Container in Indianapolis, IN for 20 years and later had worked for Ferrill Fisher Industrial in Indianapolis, IN. Vera previously had worked for Milto Cleaners in Greenwood, IN, University Heights Health and Living in Indianapolis and Henderson Nursing Home in Morgantown, IN.

Vera was a member of Franklin Pilgrim Holiness Church.

Growing up, she had been a caregiver for all of her six siblings throughout their lives. Vera touched many lives every day and had a planned phone schedule to reach out to them.

God and her faith was very dedicated part of her life and who she was. While residing at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville, IN, she established Bible studies and church services.

Also important to Vera was caring for and placing flowers on the many graves of her family that had preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children Debra A. Milton (Bill) of Indianapolis, IN, Pamela J. Ridge (Robert Caplinger) of Bargersville, IN and John L. Fisher (Kim Springer) of Bargersville, IN, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son Gordon L. Estle on July 27, 2000, her daughter-in-law Darlene Janette (LeGrand) Fisher on March 15, 2016, her siblings Charles Alexander, Tommy Alexander, Gladys Alexander, Helen Beasley, Delores Sigafus and Rosie Dustin.

Pastor Lonnie Dunn and Pastor Tim Forsee will conduct a service on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/verafisher.

Visitation will take place on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 11AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
