William "Bill" Joseph Cruser, 80, of Greenwood, IN passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born May 6, 1945 in Greensburg, IN to Rolland and Opal (Bayless) Cruser.  Bill married Patti A. (Jordan) Cruser on December 23, 1966 at the Greensburg Wesleyan Church, she survives.

He was a graduate of Sandcreek High School in Decatur County, IN.

Bill was a United States Marine Corps Veteran.

He retired as a quality control coordinator for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, IN for thirty-five years retiring in 2001.  After retirement, he served as a special deputy with the Johnson County Sheriff's Department for ten years and then had been an assistant fleet manager for Fletcher Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Franklin, IN.

Bill was a member of Jubilee Masonic Lodge #746 in Whiteland, IN.  He served as the coordinator of the Johnson County Sheriffs Charity Ride for seven years.  Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, a loyal Indiana University basketball fan of the Coach Bobby Knight era and spending time with his family.  He was also an ordained minister and was dedicated to his Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife Patti A. (Jordan) Cruser of Greenwood, IN, his two daughters Cyndi D. Smith (Greg) of Zionsville, IN and Melissa L. Cochrane (Andrew) of Franklin, IN, eight grandchildren Lawrence Smith (Maggie), Hayli Beebe (Luke), Jessica Smith, Cami Cochrane, Maggi Vanderwerff (Matthew), Eli Cochrane, Emma Cochrane and Jake Smith, three great grandchildren Maya Vanderwerff, McCoy Vanderwerff and Nolan Smith, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Fred Cruser, Paul Cruser, Wayne Cruser and Steve Cruser.

The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a service on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 2:30PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/williamcruser.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 12 Noon until service time at the mortuary.

Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN with military honors being conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard.
