William R.
O'Day
January 5, 1956 — February 10, 2026
Martinsville
William "Bill" Rae O'Day of Franklin, IN and formerly of Bargersville, IN passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Indianapolis, IN.
A beloved husband, dad, stepdad, grandpa, papaw, great-grandpa and friend, Bill touched the lives of so many with his sense of humor, lightheartedness, beautiful smile and compassionate heart and his great head of hair. Everyone was a friend to Bill, as he never met a stranger.
Bill was born on January 5, 1956, in Indianapolis to the late Gene Raeburn and Ann Catherine (O'Day) Romanovich. After finishing school, Bill worked a few odd jobs until earning his commercial driver's license. He then began a 26-year career at CJ's, Inc. in Indianapolis, retiring in 2020.
Bill married the love of his life, Peggy (Wimsatt) O'Day, on March 29, 1991, at their home in Indianapolis. He enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, going to car shows and babysitting his grandbabies. In 2020, he took a part-time job working at Meijer in Franklin. Bill loved the work, but also was quite fond of his coworkers, who described him as a kind, gentle, helpful person, always with smile on his face and a great sense of humor.
When not working or doing anything he could for his beloved wife, Peggy, he loved socializing in the community, particularly at his favorite restaurant, Dale's 2, in Franklin. So frequent were his visits for a cup of coffee that the staff awarded him his own coffee cup and container of sugar. Artificial sweetener wouldn't do; he insisted on the real thing. Bill loved many of the workers and customers like family. Many of them said he touched their lives in ways he'll never know.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Peggy (Wimsatt) O'Day of Franklin, IN. He is also survived by his children and stepchildren, all of whom he is extremely proud of: Rachel (Michael) Turnage; Jeremy (Michelle) O'Day; Jessica (Billy) McCaslin and Crystal (Matthew) Olibo-Loman. He is survived by grandchildren Tony (Sara) O'Day, Shianna O'Day, Michael Turnage, Jr., Jeremy (Rachel) O'Day, Jazmin O'Day, Sheadon O'Day, Jeramyah O'Day, Cherika McCaslin, Billy "Bub" McCaslin, Blake McCaslin, Cohen Olibo, Landon Olibo, Andryanna Loman and Kassandra Loman. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Luke O'Day, Shawn O'Day and Baker O'Day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, George Wimsatt, and son-in-law, Marcus Olibo.
