Wilma Evelyn "Sis" (Cheek) Stephens, 87, of Nineveh, IN passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 16, 1936 in Decatur County, IN to Henley Opal Cheek and Carrie (Callahan) Cheek.
She had been a production line assembler for Cummins Engine in Columbus, IN for sixteen years. She previously had worked at the Garment Factory in Franklin, IN.
Sis loved playing and singing music at church with her kids. She was the base player at church for many years. Her faith always got her through. She would always say, "trust in God and pray, for God will get you through".
Sis was a dedicated mother of seven, Kathy Walker (Darryl) of Nineveh, IN, Veronica Messick of Marion, IL, Brenda Myers (John) of Amarillo, TX, Reverend Roger Stephens (Debbie) of Franklin, IN, Lisa Stephens of Trafalgar, IN, Darlena Callon of Nineveh, IN and Patti Ferriera (Chan) of Whiteland, IN, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, a brother Larry Cheek (Joann) of Franklin, IN and her strong faith in God along with her family meant everything to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henley Opal Cheek and Carrie (Callahan) Cheek, three brothers Richard Cheek, Robert Cheek and Francis Cheek, a sister Wanda (Babe) Constant, a grandson Mark Davis and great-granddaughter Faith Lipsius.
The Reverend Roger Stephens will conduct a service on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 4:30PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 2PM until service time at the mortuary.
